Aqualon, the Huelva shopping centre, to reinvent itself as a Gourmet Food Market
In the face of the opening of Carrefour's major shopping mall, Holea, Aqualon, the shopping centre near the port of Huelva, is to reinvent itself as a 'Mercado Gastronómico'. That is a gourmet food market and dining and entertainment emporium.
An all-in-one food market, eating and entertainment centre is new in this region of Andalucía but they run successfully in the Andalucian cities of Sevilla and Córdoba and also in Madrid and Barcelona.
The concept is that within the large fresh food market an area is dedicated to dining where seating is shared between traders serving their specialities and tapas. Diners can choose a selection of dishes from different stalls then select any table to enjoy their meal.
In the case of Aqualon there will also be a concert stage for musical performances, a multi screen cinema and an inexpensive gymnasium.
The owners of Aqualon, Ibemetex, are confident of attracting sufficient outlets and traders to the new facility with incentives of reasonable rents and low start-up capital investments. Trader's overheads will be further reduced because dining furniture will be supplied and cleaned by the management and the advertising and promotion of the emporium will also be undertaken by the owners.
Food outlets already signed up are Brochett de Marraquet, American Yogurt, Burger King and the cafetería La Extremeña but informal agreements awaiting signature include Mesón El Pozo, Freiduría El Choco, Pulpería Barroso and Casa Lucía.
